Nov 12, 2012 · This is now automated in the Airport Utility FWIW, I just decided to pull my Airport Extreme out of storage and use it to enhance the wireless network being given off by my Time Capsule. I did a bunch of reading on the options and decided to go with Ethernet to my AE. The Apple AirPort base stations CANNOT extend the wireless range of non-Apple wireless routers. That is because they use a propriety method to do so with other AirPort base stations. However, the AirPort Extreme base station can "extend" other non-Apple wireless routers if the connection between them is wired. Yes. The issue was the extender, EX3700, does not play well with Apple AirPort Extreme routers in that the Apple device assigns channels for both frequencies automatically which may not be suitable for the EX3700. Using the Airport utility I assigned a new channel for each frequency. They were 11 and 153 for 2.4 and 5 GHTZ respectively.

I called Apple tech support to see if both can work together or not he said it should work fine so I don't know how both can work together??
